About GAAPG

Formed in 1982, the Group's objectives are "to preserve the nature and amenities of the area and to resist any proposed development which, in the opinion of the committee, would result in these being harmed or destroyed...”.

Great Austins is a highly attractive area in which to live and its character is probably one of the reasons you have chosen to live here. However, the same wooded landscape, quiet roads and spacious gardens that are attractive to you, also present opportunities for developers.

Many mature residential areas close to the centre of neighbouring towns have been developed out of existence and their character lost forever. It has been too easy for developers to gain footholds because the residents have not been able to organise their defence until too late, and often do not have the experience of dealing with planning applications.

The Group comprises local residents who volunteer to represent the needs and concerns of all of the roads within the preservation area.
